  Summary of Funding   The Adnams Charity was founded in 1990 to celebrate Adnams centenary as a public company.  It is funded by a percentage of Adnams annual profits, mandated dividends, donations and legacies.




       
  Eligible Applicants   The Adnams Charity awards grants to worthy causes within 25 miles of
Southwold or, in the case of national charities, exclusively for the
benefit of those living within 25 miles of Southwold.

Grants are never made to individuals, but may be channelled through
recognised organisations that are prepared to sponsor needy individuals
and to ensure that the money is well spent. 

       
  Geographical Coverage   Very specifically, in close proximity to Southwold, Suffolk
       
  Eligibility Criteria   Most grants are made under the general headings of:
•    Education
•    Health and Social Welfare
•    The Arts
•    Recreation
•    Buildings/Community Facilities
•    The Environment/Conservation




       
  Other Considerations   Grants are made for
specific purposes only, and are rarely made to the same organisation two
years in succession.
       
  Amount   Grants normally
range from £100 to £2,500 and the Trustees expect to see the results of
their donations within twelve months.

  AHF Comment   Although this may seem to be an unlikely contender for a built heritage grant, the charity is known to have supported a small number of projects in recent years involving improvements to the facilities of historic village halls used as community centres.
